Stage 3 – Tour de France completed
As lovely a city as Brussels is, it was great to finally start cranking out the miles on wide open roads, and there are plenty on the 215km Stage 3 from Binche to Epernay.
Our little GTP team of 3 were moving along well until Andrew unfortunately crashed at the 72km mark injuring his forearm. He courageously finished the stage and hopefully he will be fine to continue tomorrow.
For all my family and friends who like champagne you will love Stage 3 as it flows through the Champagne region/capitol of the world. The scenery is stunning and will make for fantastic television viewing.
For the pros there will be something for everyone.
While undulating and exposed to high winds, the roads are wide and very fast. There are a couple of sprint sections within the first 100km and hills with short sharp climbs right at the back end of the race.
My legs feel super strong and I’m looking forward to Stage 4 tomorrow which is 213.5km from Reims to Nancy.
Great to hear Team Jumbo Visma won Stage 2 today and retain the Yellow Jersey, brilliant.
