Stage 8 – Tour de France completed

I’d like to dedicate my ride today to my beautiful sister Deb who passed away on this day in 2015 aged just 54. She was the most beautiful, gentle, caring person who is missed by us all each and every day. Her passing was sudden, caught us all by surprise and we never got to say our goodbyes. The pain of riding a push bike a few hundred kilometers is nothing compared to the pain from the loss of a loved one. My thoughts are also with everyone enduring similar pain.

With regards Stage 8 today, it was a mega solo effort for all but the first 10km. Given the number of short sharp hills there was little assistance Marcos could offer by way of drafting so we decided it would be better for him to rest up for the coming days. My strategy was to find other riders along the way to work with however that didn’t work out so I rode solo for 190km.
