Tour de France
The 2019 Tour de France has arrived and it’s such a surreal and emotional moment to think that I’m about to attempt riding every single kilometer of this incredible iconic event promoting the importance of early detection and intervention in cancer, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
2019 also marks the 100th year anniversary of the Yellow Jersey and the 50th anniversary of Eddy Merckx’s first of five Tour de France victories. To celebrate these milestones, it is billed as the hardest and highest in history, nice.
Physically and psychologically it’s going to be seriously challenging for me. Have I recovered from the Giro ok, maintained fitness, am I mentally tough enough, time will tell.
The challenging route presented a number of logistical and safety issues to our team and it was decided we ride one day ahead of the pros guaranteeing us the opportunity to ride every kilometer, a very sound decision.
I’ll be posting daily updates as per the Giro. So don your lycra, sunnies, helmets and shoes… let’s clip in for what’s sure to be one hell-of-an epic ride around France.
