Stage 18 – Tour de France completed

The French Alps are absolutely stunning… wow, just beautiful and thankfully so as the incredible jaw dropping scenery was just reward for the effort required today. To ride mountains that are solidly written into the Tour de France history books and still see the names of past legends still painted on the roadways was so inspiring…. likewise the many adrenaline fueled spectators lining the cols.
I could write for hours about the trials and tribulations of today however for many reasons we arrived at our new hotel at midnight and I need sleep, it was a big day… Tomorrow is short 126km but it’s all uphill from the very start as we ride from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to the highest mountain pass in Europe Col d’Iseran at 2,770 meters above sea level and down into the very famous ski resort of Val d’Isere…. I’m really looking forward to this stage as the scenery should amazingly beautiful.
